Our Story
Loch a Tuath News (LATN) is a regular publication, established in 1997, run mostly by volunteers. It covers the villages of Tong, Upper Coll, Coll, Vatisker, Back and Gress, on the east cost of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. We produce 10 issues a year, with double issues in July/August and December/January.
In 2022, we were awarded the coveted title of 'Community Newspaper of the Year' at the Highlands and Islands Media Awards, and we were also awarded a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the hard work and commitment of all our volunteers, past and present.
LATN is an eclectic mixture of community news and other relevant news, views and notices. We often include historical articles and photographs, and welcome opinions and Letters to the Editor. We encourage people to submit their village news, ideas for stories/articles, photographs and details of community events to us. The magazine is usually available in local shops on the first Friday of the cover month, priced at just £2.20.
